Patio Maintenance Tips

Patios are often a place we spend a lot of time in the warmer months and almost none in the colder ones.  But there are some patio maintenance tips for every time of the year to help your garden area be in top condition whenever you need it.

With patio maintenance, top of the list is making sure it is free of weeds.  If you have a paved area, this may be relatively easy to deal with but even if the patio is tiled or made from natural stone cleaning off all weed growth can help prevent further problems.

Regularly sweeping up leaves and debris will also stop them from forming into mulch which makes cleaning more difficult.

If you find it is becoming slippery underfoot if there's a lot of ice, you may want to add some sheeting over the top.  But you can add a fine layer of grit to the patio and this will reduce the risk.  Just remember that if it doesn't rain for a week or two, turn the hose on it when it isn't icy to stop a build-up spoiling the patio surface.
